The All-Electric Lifestyle

Hand charging Bolt EV

There are many advancements currently being made in the automotive world. Previously, we would shy away from keeping electric vehicles (EVs) in our inventory. However, with the growing advances in electric technology and consumer demand, we’re excited to be bringing you EVs to our new vehicle inventory like the newly announced 2022 Chevy Bolt electric EUV (electric utility vehicle). If you’re looking for something powerful, efficient, and innovative for your New Caney commute, look no further and explore an EV from Chevrolet.

Are You Ready to Live the All-Electric Life?

If you’re ready to begin enjoying the benefits of an EV for your Splendora lifestyle, we can help. We will be able to reserve a 2022 Bolt EUV for you through General Motors’ new reservation system. Although different from how you’ve purchased a vehicle in the past, it is an easy, noncommittal way for you to dip your toe into the EV world.

You build your Bolt EUV and reserve it for only $100. If at any time you get cold feet and you’re not yet ready to commit, you can cancel at any time for a full refund of your $100 even after it has arrived at our dealership. Here’s what you can do to get started on learning more about EVs:

  • Sign up for our EV Newsletter to stay abreast of the original Bolt EV, the new Bolt EUV, and all future models and test drive events at our store (you’ll be surprised how fast these EVs really are!). EV Charging – As Easy as Plugging in Your Smartphone

Charging your EV is easy, just grab the charger, plug it in, and you’re all set to tackle the Cleveland roads. What’s more, you can add power to your battery whenever it’s convenient for you. Charge at home in between daily runs or while on the go using a public charging unit.

You can always search for a public charging station near you using the myChevrolet Mobile App with Energy Assist. Electricity rates are subject to many factors, including the region where you live, the time of year, and even the time of day when peak charges apply. For the most part, electricity usage and costs are at their lowest late at night. Let’s take a closer look at the available charging options for your Chevrolet EV:

  • (BASIC) STANDARD. 120-VOLT PORTABLE CHARGE CORD. Charge anywhere. Offers about 4 miles of range per hour of charge and is a great option for overnight charging. Just plug in anywhere there’s a 3-prong outlet.
  • (FAST) AVAILABLE. 240-VOLT/32-AMP CHARGING UNIT. Charge at home – after your day and return to a full charge by morning. Offers up to 25 miles of range per hour of charge time and is the fastest, most recommended way to charge at home (professional installation required).
  • (SUPER FAST) AVAILABLE. DC FAST CHARGING. Charge on the go. Offers up to 100 miles of range in about 30 minutes of charge time and is available for public use. We have a Charging Station at our dealership in Cleveland!

Home Charging – The Cheapest Way to Charge Your EV

What’s the most economical way to charge your EV? We’d recommend charging at home to get the best bang for your buck. Here’s how to find out how much you’ll save when going from a fuel-powered vehicle to an EV:

  1. Find your electric bill, then divide the number of kilowatt-hours you used into the bottom-line dollar total. That’ll give you the price you paid per kWh.
  2. Electric cars get 3 to 4 miles per kWh. So, divide the total miles you drive each month by 3, this will get you the kWh you would use monthly.
  3. Multiply that number by your cost per kWh. The dollar amount you get will most likely be lower than what you pay each month to buy gasoline.

If you’re having a hard time following, here’s an example we’ve put together with a simple formula. If you put 1,000 miles on your vehicle each month and pay $0.10 for each kilowatt-hour of electricity, this puts your at-home EV recharging bill at $25 to $33 dollars per month (based on the calculation of 3-4 driving miles equaling one kilowatt-hour).

Even if you double your electric rate to 20 cents per/kWh, your EV recharging cost will be $50 to $66 dollars and in most cases, this will be the more budget-friendly option when compared to gasoline-powered vehicles.

Home EV Charging Station Installers

Chevrolet and Qmerit can provide you with easy access to accredited home EV charging station installers right in your area. According to HomeAdvisor, the median cost for installing a home charger is around $700, plus installation fees. This cost pays for itself in a little over two years through the money saved per month by not purchasing gasoline. Watch the video for more.

How Far Can I Go in an EV?

The average daily commute is about 40 miles round trip. Bolt EV offers an EPA-estimated 259 miles of range, on a full charge, so you’ll have the power you need for your day-to-day needs plus any stops in between. Depending on your driving style, you could even go a few days without needing to charge.

The myChevrolet Mobile App with Energy Assist is smart enough to help you determine when you’re likely to need a charge to help reduce range-anxiety. It’ll use key information such as the vehicle’s current charge, driving conditions, and real-time weather to help calculate range and any needed charging stops along the way. This feature also points you to the nearest charging station and automatically updates as conditions change so you’ll know exactly where to make a stop. Wondering what else the myChevrolet Mobile App with Energy Assist can do? Read below:

  1. Know Before You Go: In addition to providing range and charging data, Energy Assist can now tell you if a station is working, available and compatible with your Bolt EV.
  2. Route Planning: Energy Assist uses key information like your vehicle’s current charge, driving conditions and real-time weather to calculate the most efficient route for you.
  3. Charging Locator: The app can also help you locate more than 40,000 compatible charging stations, and can even let you know if a station is working, available and compatible with your vehicle.
  4. Payment: To make public charging even easier, we made it possible to pair your account with EVgo — the nation’s leader in public electric vehicle fast charging — with the myChevrolet Mobile App, so you don’t have to switch between apps if you have to pay.

  5. Chevrolet Complete Care – Covers your battery and specific electric drive components for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
